Save

Animal sanctuaries are dedicated to saving animals in distress, whether from zoos that no longer want them, abusive and negative environments, or if they're hurt and can no longer survive on their own.

Care

Animal sanctuaries provide loving care for their animals. Their fundamental purpose is the continued well-being of the animals, unlike zoos, which look to use animals for entertainment and profit.

Release

Animal sanctuaries will also release animals back into the wild when possible. Not all animals can be released, but those that are deemed able to survive on their own are given the freedom they deserve.

What can you do?

Animal sanctuaries need people just like you to sustain themselves. They rely on donations, volunteers, and public awareness. Many offer tours, open days, and events that provide an excellent alternative to visiting a zoo. Browse through our list of sanctuaries, check out their websites, and discover which ones are near you. Search, learn, and get involved!

About

Ontario Animal Sanctuaries is a social media driven campaign to increase public awareness of the animal sanctuaries located around them. Our goal is to connect people with sanctuaries so they can visit, donate, and become involved in Ontario sanctuaries.
